Proof of English Proficiency
If English is not your first language (i.e. is not the first language you learned at home as a child), you will need to provide evidence of adequate English proficiency for admission consideration, unless you qualify for an exemption.
You may qualify for an exemption from the English proficiency requirement if one of the following applies to you:
- You have completed/are completing four or more years of full-time academic study in a recognized Canadian school (in Canada) that teaches in English,
- You have completed/are completing four or more years of full-time academic study in an English language school located in a country where the teaching language is English.
If you meet any of the exemption criteria listed above, you must submit the document which exhibits a proof of English Language Test Exemption criteria along with your application for admission.
If you meet the admission requirements, but not the proof of English Proficiency requirement, you most likely become a candidate for one of our free ESL Programs which are offered at the weekends by VEGA Language Academy, one of partner schools with which we have articulation agreement.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition Processes for Equivalency
PLAR procedures are carried out under the direction of the principal of VEGA Academy, who grants the credits. Our PLAR, developed in compliance with ministry policy, is the equivalency process which involves the assessment of credentials from other jurisdictions. PLAR credits are documented in the OSR, specifying which are compulsory and optional credits. VEGA Academy does not offer the PLAR Challenge process which is the process whereby students’ prior learning is assessed for the purpose of granting credit for a course developed from a provincial curriculum policy document.
Non-Discrimination Policy
VEGA Academy is committed to building and sustaining a community that is free from discrimination of any kind. VEGA Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin in its admission process or in the administration of any school program or policy.
