Visa & Study Permit

Depending on program length, international students require either a visitor visa or study permit. Applications, including all required documents, should be submitted to IRCC at least three months before the program start date.

Arrival & Settlement

After leaving the airport, students will be welcomed by their guardian/ custodian, homestay family, or pre-arranged transportation and taken to their host home or residence, to settle in, rest, and prepare to begin their educational journey at VEGA Academy.

While custodians and host families serve as the primary local contacts for school-related matters, parents remain an important part of their child’s journey. VEGA Academy keeps families informed and welcomes open communication, ensuring parents feel connected and supported every step of the way.

Visa & Arrival Process

A valid letter of acceptance is a crucial document in submitting a study permit/TRV application. Additionally, it is important to submit sufficient financial documentation to establish liquidity to cover tuition, housing, and other related expenses. If the applicant is a minor, custodianship documents are mandatory. Once approved, a study permit will be granted at the port of entry at the time of your arrival in Canada.

Step-by-Step Arrival Guide

After arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport, students should complete immigration procedures, collect their luggage, pass through customs, and proceed to the arrivals area to meet their guardian/custodian, homestay family, or pre-arranged transportation and begin their journey in Canada.

Do I need a study permit for OSSD programs at VEGA Academy?

Yes. Since the OSSD is a full-time program lasting longer than six months, international students require a valid study permit to enroll at VEGA Academy.

Can I attend summer camp on a visitor visa?

Yes. Short-term programs under six months, such as summer camps, can typically be attended on a visitor visa (TRV) without a study permit.

When should I apply for my visa or study permit?

Apply as soon as you receive your Letter of Acceptance, ideally at least three months before your program start date, to allow for processing and biometrics.

What happens if my visa is delayed?

If your visa is delayed, please notify us immediately. We can advise on deferring your start date or adjusting your enrolment plan until your documents are approved.
