Academics At VEGA Academy

Our academics are based on;

Teaching the basics and fundamentals of each subject or topic effectively.
Increasing the level of complexity for each lesson and revision.
Building new learning upon students’ prior knowledge.

Establishing a relationship between new and old learning.

Encouraging our students to apply their prior knowledge to later course objectives.

Our curriculum is based on Spiral Curriculum. In the Spiral Curriculum, a new subject is introduced to students in its most basic form without much detail or explanation. Then, as learning progresses, more details are introduced which build on these basics, adding depth and breadth to the content. This enables students to develop a deeper understanding of the subject, while also helping them to retain the information.

We use two main approaches in classrooms; student-centered and inquiry-based learning.

Sudent - Centered Learning

Student-centered learning requires that teachers see each student as distinct and unique. This means recognizing that students in any classroom learn at different rates with different styles, they have different abilities and talents, their feelings of efficacy may vary, and they may be in different stages of development. In this approach, learning is a constructive process that is relevant and meaningful to students and connected to students’ prior knowledge and experience.

Inquiry-Based Learning

Inquiry-based learning is an approach to teaching and learning that places students’ questions, ideas and observations at the centre of the learning experience. For students, the process often involves open-ended investigations into a question or a problem, requiring them to engage in evidence-based reasoning and creative problem-solving, as well as “problem finding.”
